The simple and modern series MAY is made of powder-coated steel. The durable furniture family consists of stackable chairs with and without armrests and tables in two sizes, which are harmoniously matched and complement each other. The understated, monochromatic look of the MAY collection is rich in detail without being technical. The chair leads the way for the design's defining interactions, where a delicate surface meets a bold frame - two opposing elements that somehow comfortably coexist. The lightweight steel sheet that wraps tightly around the chunky steel frame forms a strong and comfortable seat that curves slightly to gently hug the body. A slot in the seat allows water to drain and is a subtle detail on the otherwise uniform surface. Mirrored in the tables, it creates a repetition of lines that adds lightness, charm and unity to the family.
Designer Hannes & Fritz:
Hannes & Fritz is the design studio of Johannes Breuer and Fritz Gräber. With Johannes in Stuttgart and Fritz in Zurich, they develop each project through a mix of individual and collaborative work in different cities. Both have very similar skills and shared interests, but each brings their own unique perspective to their collaborative projects: Johannes' tendency to be more linear and emblematic, and Fritz's more dynamic and expressive design language. Taken together, the results are more interesting than what each designer could have achieved individually.
